Analogies from nature provided the inspiration for the Aqua surface series: the depth of the ocean and the colour of the water. Together with the bowl form, the new glaze evokes an extraordinary optical depth which can normally only be achieved by glass. The flow in the basin, which is created during the manufacturing process, changes slightly each time, so that each basin is unique. The effect is elicited through a specific proportion of clear enamel in the glaze which, in combination with the iridescent colouring, lends the basin a special optical depth. The glaze thereby has a uniform maximum thickness of 0.3 mm. As a result of the elaborate manufacturing process, unique pieces are created which, depending on the incident light and surrounding materials, constantly take on a different appearance.
